During Change the World Weekend, United Methodists all across the country will be engaging in mission projects designed to change the world! We have two events that will be occurring on that weekend. First, the Vermont District Celebration on Saturday from 9:00 AM till 3:30 PM which will be held at Covenant Hills Camp. In the morning, there will be a briefing with the District Superintendent on matters that will be coming before the New England Annual Conference in June and a time to worship. Then we will grab a bag lunch and break out into work groups to work on projects at the camp and other sites. Projects at the camp include painting, preparing a garden, working on hiking paths, or other tasks to help get the camp ready to open. Wear comfortable work clothes (in layers), work boots, and bring heavy work gloves. You can also bring rakes, shovels, loppers, and extra drinking water. Cost for the event is $10 to pay for lunch and supplement the district discretionary fund. We need to know by May 10 if you are planning to attend; please RSVP to Pastor Elisabeth.
The second event for that weekend will be a collection of school supplies to be used in two ways: to go in UMCOR school kits, and to go in backpacks that will go to Annual Conference for distribution within New England. You will find a list of specific items needed later in the newsletter. We will also be asking those who attend the chicken and biscuit dinner that night at Middlebury to bring school supply items.
We can change the world! It only takes people who are willing to work together to make a difference. We will be reporting on our events to the website afterward.
