Middlebury Missions:  Looking Ahead

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed me,
I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me.

Matthew 25.35-36

Wow! Our congregation is doing so many terrific things in mission; so much so that it's sometimes hard for one person to keep a handle on it all.  In light of that, I have an idea. Why not form a Missions Ministry Team? Those of us involved in mission or wanting to be involved in mission could get together once a month, fellowship, share thoughts and ideas, and support one another in our various efforts. If you're a person who is not currently involved in mission work, you could attend and find out more about what's going on and how you can serve.  Give this idea some thought and prayer and let Pastor Elisabeth or myself know if you're interested.

Also, be listening and watching for information on a Missions Sunday coming up in October. Various folks who are active in mission will be on hand to talk about their experiences and to answer your questions. One of the things we will look at is breathing new life into our HOPE and CVOEO food shelf donations. We will also discuss the Community Lunches, Community Suppers, the Charter House Emergency Shelter, WomenSafe, the MiddSummer Program, and our Mozambique mission.  It promises to be a full and fulfilling autumn and winter in the world of missions. I look forward to continuing our work with you as we Rethink Church!
